Community Members Agreement
At AP CLAY, our community thrives on mutual respect, accountability, and a shared commitment to fostering a welcoming, creative environment. These agreements are the foundation of our space, and we all play a role in upholding them.
Who Does This Apply To?
Anyone who walks through the doors of AP CLAY—students, members, instructors, staff, and guests. We are all part of this ecosystem, and our actions shape the culture of our community.
What Happens If an Agreement Is Violated?
If an issue arises that impacts the community, it should be brought to the attention of the administrative staff. This can be done via email, in person, or through our anonymous feedback form.
We approach concerns with transformative accountability, prioritizing the needs of those affected and respecting privacy unless the situation affects the broader community.
The administrative team may take the following steps:
- Engage in necessary conversations
- Work with those involved to find solutions
- Outline next steps for resolution
If someone compromises the mental, emotional, or physical safety of others, we may ask them to leave—particularly if they are guests, contractors, or non-members. While we acknowledge our limitations as staff, we are committed to handling situations with fairness and a desire for community growth.
Our Community Values
We treat each other with respect.
Everyone at AP CLAY is valued, regardless of experience, background, or status. We expect all members to interact with patience, courtesy, and kindness—the same way they would like to be treated.
We foster a supportive environment.
To maintain trust and inclusivity, we ask members to bring concerns directly to management. We are committed to transparency in our communication.
We respect creative expression.
Clay is a deeply personal medium, and every artist’s work is a reflection of their own voice. There is no hierarchy in creativity here—we support all forms of clay-making and encourage exploration without judgment.
We support one another.
AP CLAY is built on a collaborative, non-competitive culture. We ask our members to uplift and assist one another, fostering an environment of shared learning and generosity.
We are committed to inclusion.
Our space is actively anti-racist, anti-classist, and affirming of LGBTQ+ identities. Discrimination, harassment, or exclusion of any kind will not be tolerated.
We care for our space.
A well-maintained studio inspires creativity and respect. Keeping the studio clean and organized is a shared responsibility—caring for the space is a direct reflection of how we value each other’s work and presence.
A Living Agreement
AP CLAY is an evolving space, and so are these agreements. As we grow, we ask our members to embrace change and continue to uphold these values as they adapt to the needs of our community.
By being part of AP CLAY, you agree to honor these principles. Violations may result in reminders, warnings, or, in cases of repeated or serious infractions, loss of access to the studio.
Let’s create an environment where everyone can thrive.
